“New year, new me” are four words that have filled my Facebook, Twitter and even E-mail.  I’m not sure waiting for a new year to try to accomplish your goals is a great choice, but I do believe that whatever goal you set if you begin on a Sunday or Monday (the beginning of the week) are more likely to hold yourself to that goal; at least for a while. I didn’t have my mind set on any resolution for this year. I have been focusing on small goals and the little things lately like drinking water more, actually exercising and OH YEAH, getting into GRADUATE SCHOOL FOR MY MASTERS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION to further my education in a career I love.

I brought in the new year with my dog, Bolt, and my fiancé Ben. He laughed as I fell asleep right at 12:05am. That time was big for me, because I normally fall asleep between 9-10pm with a book in my hand, but at the same time I wake up in the morning at 6am no matter what day.

This year has a lot of important moments, and changes. I am very excited about what the year 2017 holds for me for my life.

I have 21 days until my first day of graduate school begins.

I have 62 days until I marry my best friend.

I hope to respond to more prompts here than last year (That goal is one that won’t be too hard. Fingers crossed, I won’t totally slack).

Happy New Year!

alma mater

It’s weird because I cannot say, “Hey, look I sat in the same seat as you did because I can’t.” The high school you stand in and are going to graduate from was being built my senior year. My class left the old high school with the saying, “We are the last of the best ones” because we were the last to graduate at the old high school..which is now the middle school. The middle school were I work at.

My advice is simple. It is that you should never give up. If you have a dream, go for it. I had many people in my life that questioned me why I choose my profession. Why would I pick a low paying job to get into my profession? Honestly, I don’t regret anything at all. I like where I am and I have grown up in the past two years.

You, you all, should tell them like it is. Love what you love. Let people in. Teach them. Teach them to go out of their boundaries. You should go out of your boundaries and try something new but never lose sight of who you are as a person. You are a wonderful human being that will change the world if you are focused and determined.

But my best advice to you…most of all, if you love what you do, you will never ‘work’ a day in your life. You will have too much fun smiling and changing lives to worry about it. Money may seem like a big thing, but in the end, you can’t take it with you. Happiness is what I strive for every day. I like being happy and I try to make at least one person laugh every day.

quirky habits

I think my worst and best quirky habit is my dancing (with no music…haha to the beat of my own drum). I have danced many times in the office awkwardly just to put smiles on faces and get glares of ‘wtf’ from others at work. But hey, if I put a smile on at least one person a day, that makes it all worth it!

Quirk of Habit

safety first.

Safety First

There are many times I can write about feeling unsafe that are true but the one that is most recent comes to my head.

The car in front of us stopped without warning. There was no way to get over to the other lane. I knew we would hit them. I cringed inside as I told my boyfriend to please slow down. He turned the car so we only hit her with one side of his car. His car and the car in front of us colliding made a loud bang. My cell phone fell to the floor. My sweet tea fell all over my body and I bite my lip hard. It was total silence after. I quickly asked if my boyfriend was ok. He nodded and we drove over to a parking lot to park. The person hit followed in our suite. She was mad and yelled before saying she was going to call the police. I was still shaken up from the impact of the cars hitting. Why was she trying to go across double yellows in the first place?

Pick Your Gadget

Pick Your Gadget
Your local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?

One of the movies I remember from my childhood is Monster’s Inc. In that movie the monsters go everywhere by coming through closet doors to scare children. I never wanted to be the one scared but I really liked the concept that those monsters could enter a place far away from them, states, countries away but just one door.

I like the idea of not having to get in the car to drive or anything, just stating my destination and simply going through a door to get there. I would never have to deal with traffic and I would never be late for work.

These doors are called ‘anywhere doors’ so I take that as it doesn’t matter where I wish to go and that I could use it as a time machine, also. I would go places here, and there, everywhere. I would go in the past, and to the future.
